If you have the Leviathan DLC, you'll have some unique dialogue with her in the final mission, and if you have the Citadel DLC, you'll have a great amount of unique dialogue and altered scenes with her. With Ashley confirmed as your Romantic partner, the game won't let you start or continue for a Romance towards anybody else. You'll be unable to make any further interactions with her for almost the entire rest of the game, including the Citadel DLC.

And honestly - a CIA station chief of Steven’s seniority feels betrayed by a friend in this situation? I don’t find this conceivable, either. Or maybe there are a lot of closet Joschka Fischer appointees left in German government. out (which would never happen - the diplomats would be sent home but there would still be a CIA presence in the BRD). But that a German official would allow a mass shooting that resulted in the deaths of German citizens to occur in his country as a way of responding to it? Essentially this scene makes it sound like Hans wanted those people to be killed just to kick the U.S. That German-American relations are clouded by this issue, as you know, I agree is a fact. Two reactions to this: first, this is a great insight about the balance of power games that powerful states play with each other and it should have been articulated much earlier in the series, by episode three or so. Steven doesn’t know why Thomas Shaw all of a sudden focused on Berlin (as opposed to other areas he had targeted earlier). Steven doesn’t see how he was arrested that quickly Hans makes a stale joke about German efficiency. Hans points out that what happened at the mall isn’t normal in Germany (yes! yes!). ATTENTION: IF YOU DIDN’T UNDERSTAND THE PLOT UP UNTIL NOW, STEVEN WILL EXPLAIN IT TO YOU! Steven’s had time to think he doesn’t understand why Daniel didn’t turn Shaw over, or why Hans didn’t let him out of the country quietly. As Valerie can hold the “treason” threat over his head, she tells him they’re going to do it her way.Ĭut to Steven in jail. Robert sells Valerie on cooperation by pointing out it is the only way to figure out what Clay Williams is doing and shed light on why Claire was killed (actually, that was pretty clear to me, already) and maybe save Steven. She feels like she’s the giver in the relationship and she sets up a meeting with him. She wants a “chief of station overview” in return (which apparently would tell her who everyone is - their real identities). He’s using the phone to call Golda to prove to Valerie that he’s running Mossad and not the other way around. Next, Robert is in his apartment, pouring out a bowl of cereal when he discovers a cell phone in the canister! Valerie is there - I thought she’d left but I guess not. They are apparently intending to keep him a man of near-total mystery.Īlso: pretty night shot of Berlin, from the Teufelsberg looking east (the tower is the Fernsehturn / Alexanderplatz)ĭaniel calls home and tells them “I need to be brought in” and that he has a civilian with him. She’s got good questions - that he doesn’t answer (Hint: opportunity for characterization gone missing here). Patricia is obviously not thrilled about discovering what Daniel really does and Daniel is evasive. You can read about its history here.Įpisode opens with Daniel Miller reading a confession from “Thomas Shaw.” He’s tried to make the CIA more accountable.Ĭut to Daniel and Patricia, apparently at a car at the base of the Teufelsberg in the dark. It’s one of the many symbols of the reunited Berlin. Here’s the (controversial) Potsdamer Platz, where Daniel gets shot in episodes 1 (in preview) and (in real time) 10. I was wrong.Īnd: Looks like Daniel Miller will be back for season 2. In fact someone said that to me about two months ago and I defended the show. Some people would call this Muslim baiting. Particularly if you center it on the issue of alleged Muslim terrorism and child brides. That’s what I call opportunistic storytelling. Don’t create a character that you halfway flesh out (Claire), only to kill her off in a really cheap, Perils of Pauline sort of way, and then tell me that it was all for nothing anyway. You want morality? I’ll give you a sermon. This latter point - the preachiness - sticks in my craw particularly because the episode reveals that the major multi-episode plotline around the Iosavas was a CIA fake. This goes for overly convoluted plots as well as any moral dimension that we’re being asked to accept. I really can’t say enough: the story must tell itself. Many things are still implausible plot lines and characters were more or less dropped (why the hell were they even in Panama? Why show a picture of Gerald and Joker if they weren’t coming back? Daniel’s parents’ past what happened to Patricia?) and the sermon that we get at the end about whistleblowing - all I can say is - if that is the point of the show, then you need to show it to us all the way through the show rather than dropping a moralistic and blatantly partisan exhortation about it at the end. TL DR summary - this was one of the better episodes in some ways, and I wish we’d seen more such visceral exchanges between the characters and open expressions of emotion and effective characterization throughout the series. They’re like a pop art version of Gomez and Morticia. Their devotion to each other and genuine eroticism makes them endlessly charming as they pull off surprisingly elaborate and well-plotted heists. Diabolik (John Phillip Law) and Eva Kant (Marisa Mell) love doing two things: ripping off the rich, and making love, preferably on their giant rotating bed, covered in recently stolen money. Chicken Runĭanger: Diabolik comes from an era where “comic book movie” meant something weird, horny, and European. Their chemistry is immediate and undeniable it’s key in carrying off the film’s snappy dialogue and mixture of flirtatious comedy, captivating mystery, and genuine thriller. Grant’s initial discomfort with their age gap - 25 years, a still not uncommon chasm in Hollywood - resulted in rewrites to the script to make clear that Reggie was pursuing him it remains one of the few movies in which the gap is acknowledged and dealt with believably, rather than taken for granted. In the span of a single scene, Hepburn might move from pragmatic to seductive to fearful with believable ease. Hepburn and Grant, two famously talented and charming stars, are at their most charming and talented in Charade. As more people are pulled into the orbit of the money, it becomes less clear who, if anyone, Reggie can trust. To make matters worse, the remaining money is missing, and a lot of terrible people think Reggie knows where it is. When he is suddenly murdered, she realizes she didn’t really know anything about him - or, for that matter, the new man in her life, Peter Joshua (Cary Grant). The heist at the center of Charade was successful years prior to the movie, and without realizing it, Reggie (Audrey Hepburn) has been living off the profits from her husband’s crime. With a terrific jazz score and many hilarious gags, Big Deal on Madonna Street is a delight. None of them are particularly good at this heist stuff, and nothing goes according to plan, culminating in an uproarious finale. Then there’s Ferribotte (Tibero Murgia), a controlling older brother overprotective of his beautiful sister (Claudia Cardinale), and Capannelle (Carlo Pisacane), an elderly pickpocket. Tiberio (Mastroianni), a photographer, pawned his camera equipment to care for his adorable baby while the mother is in prison. Peppe (Vittorio Gassman), a boxer, has a cleaner criminal record than his boxing one. Mario, a woodworker, grew up in an orphanage and can’t find a steady job but wants a better life for the three women who raised him. This is not your typical flashy, experienced caper crew. A group of somewhat incompetent working class thieves attempt to rob a pawn shop in Rome, using a increasingly complicated scheme that involves boring through a wall to get to a jewelry safe. This hilarious Italian heist comedy helped supercharge the career of the legendary actor Marcello Mastroianni ( La Dolce Vita, 8½) and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 1959 Oscars. The Asphalt Jungle is available for digital rental or purchase on Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play, and Vudu. Every bit of the movie’s heist and its aftermath remain just as exciting and tense as any other movie on the list. Even after more than 70 years, it’s rare for a movie to trust its audience to keep up this much. Names of crime bosses are constantly thrown out and criminal terms are said left and right without a second for the audience to catch their breath. While the building-the-crew scenes and tense moments during the crime are all recognizable as modern heist-movie hallmarks, one thing that stands out is just how dense this movie is.ĭirector John Huston, who also wrote the script with Ben Maddow, manages to create a complete criminal underworld in this unnamed town in just under two hours. The Asphalt Jungle is arguably the first heist film, at least in the way we think of it today. A crime movie classic, The Asphalt Jungle follows a petty criminal named Dix Handley who’s hired onto a crew to complete a $500,000 jewel heist that quickly goes wrong.
And the glue might damage plastic and painted surfaces, so it's probably best to stay with using an appropriate clip for those situations. Hot glue is less likely to be effective on smooth metal surfaces. (Careful with stucco, though some types of stucco may be damaged by the hot glue. Glue works great for rough surfaces such as concrete, brick and stucco. Clips allow both vertical and horizontal orientation of the bulbs.Ī very quick and easy way to install Christmas lights on a number of different surfaces is by using a hot glue gun.

SummaryĪlright, you have decided on an emulator. If you are looking for a blazing fast terminal but still want access to a good amount of features, kitty is a great option. has a good ecosystem of plugins called kittens.supports tabs and windows, with multiple layouts. It is also a GPU based emulator, but it provides a great set of features and is designed with keyboard centric use in mind. Kitty is an emulator that I believe fills the gap between iTerm2 and Alacritty. If speed is your #1 factor, Alacritty is likely your best bet. Additionally, I found Alacritty to be the least intuitive to install and customize. It doesn’t support tabs or split planes, and doesn’t have any menu items on MacOS. On the other hand, Alacrity is quite minimalist when it comes to features. In my personal experience it feels the fastest of all on this list, both in startup and command execution times. While the exact performance benchmarks are subject to some controversy, Alacritty certainly feels fast. AlacrittyĪlacritty is the self-proclaimed fastest terminal emulator in existence, utilizing GPU rendering and minimal features for performance optimization. If you want the most beautiful terminal possible, and don’t mind sacrificing some performance, then Hyper may be the right choice. While it does have a rich plugin ecosystem, I have encountered many bugs in even some of the most popular plugins. In my experience, Hyper is by far the slowest of all the emulators. If you are familiar with web development, your customization of Hyper is limited only by your JS skills! However, this beauty does come at a cost. Built using web technologies (html/css/javascript), Hyper is the most A E S T H E T I C emulator on this list. Hyper is a popular terminal among those looking for the most beautiful emulator experience possible, and for good reason. If you are looking for the most well rounded emulator, iTerm2 is likely it. One of the main drawbacks of iTerm2 used to be speed, but recently they added GPU rendering which provides a significant performance increase. Allows you to rewind and view your terminal history in real-time.assign a hotkey that bring iTerm2 to the foreground when using another application.divide the window into multiple panes, each with a different session. It is extremely feature rich and easy to customize. ITerm2 seems to be the most popular third-party emulator. However, it is not as customizable or performant as some other options, which is why many people like to download a third-party emulator. It can likely handle anything you would need to use it for, and it is easy to use. The standard terminal that ships with MacOS it quite good. There are many options to choose from for emulators, so I will cover the five I have experience with. How you prioritize these will likely determine which is best for you. When it comes to deciding on an emulator, there are three major factors to consider: speed, features, and aesthetics. Most should work on any unix-based operating systems, but I will not have tested it. Note I use macOS, so this series will be written for macOS users. In this guide, I will walk through some of the different emulators and shells I have worked with, and take a look into which could be right for you. Luckily, there are tons of ways to tailor your terminal to perfectly match your workflow and aesthetic preferences. If you are anything like me, it didn’t take a long time before you started customizing your terminal. The shell is a program that takes input from the user in the form of text and hands it to the operating system to perform. This is a program that opens a window and allows us to interact with the shell. What is often referred to as the terminal is a terminal emulator. Also referred to as the command line, or Command Line Interface (CLI), it is our way of speaking directly to the computer. The terminal is usually one of the first things that a new programmer learns how to use. Make sure to do this when you're not actively using VRChat, as the game will need to redownload the necessary files when launched. You can do this by navigating to the VRChat cache folder and deleting its contents.
